Impact of network
Working with Xcess provides food industry partners with flexible, innovative solutions for ‘difficult’ surplus whether that’s ingredients, industrial sizes or short-date goods. Xcess members work collaborative to find bespoke solutions. This could be:
Cooking up ingredients or short-life goods into ready meals for distribution direct to families or groups
Business to consumer direct distribution of short-life goods for immediate consumption
Packing down industrial sizes into family or group size portions
Examples of industry partners
Each organisation has its own industry partners which include almost all the major retailers, manufacturers, farmers and leading food brands.
What we do with the food
Xcess works to ensure collaboration between its members and the food industry to unlock surplus food from throughout the supply chain.
Each member organisation uses its food in different ways from cooking community meals and supporting smaller charities to education projects and community food clubs, which means we can create bespoke solutions for difficult surplus.
Operations
Between the network members, Xcess can handle all food surplus. We have logistics capacity including chilled and freezer vehicles which can collect and redistribute across the country. All members have warehouses with fridges and freezers. Short life and beyond best before can fully utilised as can perishables such as fruit and veg.
All members are registered food businesses with food safety protocols, product recall and health and safety manuals as standard.
