The challenge
Heinz wanted to define a ten-year growth strategy and reposition its foodservice business internally as the leader of a product innovation.
Our solution
This complex project comprised of five worksteams brought together in a final recommendations pitch:
Ten-year forecast in sales and meals at sub-sector level
Foodservice in 2033: hypothesis for the future based on IGD's STAR model of the future scanning
Emerging flavour trends study and defining the role of foodservice in retail NPD
In-depth customer interviews with operators and wholesalers to define what 'best in class' looks like
Successful strategies: peer review
The outcome
Opportunity identification, recommended new approach to NPD and internal changes presented to the UK foodservice team and later to the continental team.
