Mmmake Your Mark makes big impression with 120m reach

24 October 2025

This year’s Mmmake Your Mark initiative showed the power of collaboration as dozens of organisations got involved.

The campaign reached almost 37 million followers on social media across 148 posts.

It also achieved a media reach of 83 million with 39 pieces of coverage across national and industry publications, like this piece in The Times.

Mmmake Your Mark is a month-long cross-industry initiative designed to attract the next generation of talent to our industry. It does this by showcasing the careers on offer and inspiring young people, parents, and educators on why the industry should be a first-choice career destination.

We are very grateful to everybody who took part, including businesses, industry bodies, government, NGOs, and more.

Why Mmmake Your Mark matters

While our dynamic and innovative industry already employs 4.4 million people – making up more than one in eight jobs – and plays a pivotal role in keeping the nation nourished, it still faces labour and skills challenges. To complicate matters, the UK population is both ageing and growing, meaning there are more mouths to feed.

Meanwhile, the industry’s future also calls for a more technical and agile workforce to face the challenges of an increasingly complex world. To meet these needs, we must attract the right people, whether they are just starting their careers or looking for a fulfilling change.

You can read more about workforce challenges within the food system in our Tomorrow’s Workforce report.

Become a virtual volunteer

Our employability programme provides school workshops to help students develop skills for work and learn about the range of jobs available in the food industry. So far it has trained over 130,000 young people across more than 30% of UK secondary schools, and we need your support to keep those figures growing.

Help students explore career paths and develop employability skills by becoming a virtual volunteer.

You’ll join virtual events led by professional facilitators. There’s minimal prep required - we’ll support you with a briefing and rehearsal.
