Consumer desire for experiences drives leisure sector growth
08 July 2025Inbound tourism boosts visitor attractions and theatre visits.
The leisure sector will see consistent growth as both tourism and consumer desire for experiences continue to drive the market, according to the latest insights from IGD’s new Away From Home (AFH) service.
Festivals, stadium events and new social sports concepts are all key growth drivers, as new technology also continues to drive efficiency of service. Meanwhile, inbound tourism is driving visits to key attractions and theatres, especially in London.
Elsewhere, IGD’s insights forecast that the rapid growth of new concepts will lead to consolidation in the market in the longer term. IGD’s insights suggest key opportunities for operators include embracing technology to automate processes and drive efficiencies, while suppliers should work with operators to develop imaginative menus and tailored marketing materials.
These insights are part of IGD’s new AFH proposition, which kicked off with the launch of the AFH five-year market forecast for 2025-2030. The new service has been developed in recognition of the need for a whole-market viewpoint of the AFH sector and marks a significant milestone for IGD as its first new insight product for 15 years.
