Ashwin joined Tesco in 2010 from Mars Inc. He has worked across a number of product divisions as Category Buying Manager, followed by Category Director roles in Household, Bakery, Dairy, Health & Wellness, and then General Merchandise Commercial Director for the UK.

In 2018 Ashwin moved from GM to take on the UK Commercial Director role for Packaged Products and Petrol Filling Stations before being promoted to the Executive Committee in September 2020 as Group Chief Product Officer.

Ashwin is responsible for the strategy and policy for the planning, ranging, sourcing and supply of the products Tesco sell across the Group. In addition, he has direct responsibility for managing this for the UK.

Wayne joined Nomad Foods in January 2016 as Managing Director of Birds Eye UK & Ireland. Prior to this he was Managing Director of the Frozen Division at Young’s Seafood Limited. Since joining, Wayne has led the turnaround of the Birds Eye business and the subsequent acquisitions and integration of both Goodfella’s and Aunt Bessie’s. In January 2020 Wayne added the Nordics region to his role and in February 2021 became responsible for Nomad Foods growing international business. Before joining Nomad Foods, Wayne has had a long and illustrious career in the FMCG world. He has over 30 years of experience including 14 years at Kerry Foods, as well as senior leadership roles at Spiller’s Petfood and United Biscuits.

James’ role at IGD is to help businesses anticipate and cope with strategic events, including: economic pressures, geo-political change, social developments and environmental stress.

James is well known for speaking at both UK and international events and provides interviews for TV, radio and the press. He also creates original reports and articles for IGD.

James has worked with clients across the entire grocery industry as well as with non-industry groups such as government departments, financial businesses and NGOs.

James joined IGD in April 1999 and has served in several roles, becoming Chief Economist in 2004.

Prior to joining IGD, he worked for Hillsdown Holdings, Northern Foods and Rank-Xerox.

Matthew previously worked for Willis Towers Watson in several roles across investment and insurance. Matthew holds a masters in Environment and Development from London School of Economics.

Nick leads the Global Insight team at IGD. He has over a decade of experience of researching retail around the world, having previously led IGD’s research across APAC and Europe. Rebecca Oliver Mooney is Head of Category for Protein, Frozen, Community Buying, the apiary & External Regulatory Affairs which brings together meal for tonight components, a focus on sourcing, combining customer value, focus across key events and supersavers, a collective lens on the future of Plant Based and doing things differently with small suppliers. ROM has over 20 years’ experience in a variety of commercial, category, innovation and strategy roles across manufacturing and retail including Mars, Nestle, Kellogg’s, Muller and Biotiful Dairy before joining the Co-op in 2020 as Head of Category for Frozen and Dairy.

Rebecca is extremely passionate about putting the customer at the heart of everything we do, focusing on data and insight to create visionary strategies that centre around customers’ wants, needs and desires. Empowering creativity, change and doing things differently ROM prides herself on driving accessible, mindful inspiration for our customer base.

Within her categories, Rebecca wants everyone to disrupt and inspire to drive authentic differentiation for Co-op, doing the right things in the right way positively and passionately. Putting collaboration at the forefront of ways of working ROM would welcome anyone in the supply base reaching out to her and the team to think outside of the box, fridge or freezer!

Rebecca is an extremely proud Mum of two daughters (11 & 13) who are a constant inspiration with their thought diversity. Nothing delights her more than seeing their passion for retail and food manufacturing being developed at a young age. She promises she doesn’t ‘borrow’ all their good ideas.
