At the core of the food and grocery industry are thousands of people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) roles; including food scientists, engineers, web designers. The STEM skills shortage is widely documented across the UK and our research found that this is a consistent theme for the food and grocery industry as well.

IGD is committed to giving students the opportunity to better understand how STEM subjects are relevant to a multitude of roles and what they need to do to develop a career in STEM roles. Our free teaching resources, STEM-focused workshops and Year 12 food science summer schools do just that.

If you are in year 12 and interested in science and food, this summer school is for you! Apply for a free place at one of our summer schools now!

If you’re from the food and grocery industry and have a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) background, find out more about volunteering at our STEM workshops.
