Venues required to record contact details

The government has announced that from 18 September, it is a legal requirement for venues such as restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, and hospitality to record contact details of customers, visitors, and staff.

  • Details to be stored for 21 days and shared with NHS Test and Trace if required
  • Contact details required include name, telephone number, date of visit, arrival, and departure time
  • Fixed penalties for organisations that do not comply
  • Venues will also be in breach of the law if they take bookings of more than six people
