Government Kickstart scheme opens

Date : 16 September 2020

Rishi Sunak, Chancellor of the Exchequer, announced Kickstart in July as part of a broad package of new measures called the Plan for Jobs.

Kickstart is intended to support young adults in entering the workplace, since history has shown that this groups is most likely to be disadvantaged by economic turmoil.

The government will pay the cost of the minimum wage, for up to six months, up to 25 hours per week, for new workers aged 16-24 who previously claimed Universal Credit.

This scheme is now open for employer applications and a package of new resources has been published online.
