Last November, we forecast that food price inflation would peak at 17%-19% in the first quarter of 2023. Despite this potentially alarming prediction, the ONS announced that in March food price inflation had reached 19.1%.

Food inflation is expected to decline slowly, a recession is no longer expected and consumer sentiment looks to be nudging up.
