In 2006, IGD began work to examine how the nutrient density of food consumed impacts on the intake of micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), particularly among vulnerable groups in the UK. This document for scientific/technical personnel is one of the main outputs of the group.

Micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) are essential for health. Although most people living in the UK have adequate micronutrient intakes of micronutrients, there are some groups with low intakes. Opportunities exist for the grocery industry to play a positive role in helping these consumers.
