Michael has played a key role on the development and launch of ShopperVista, our continuous monitor of grocery shopper sentiment. Michael tracks the latest shopper trends, including drivers of store and product choice, as well as attitudes to a range of issues relevant to the food and grocery industry including brands and private label, channel choice, food quality, provenance, health, ethics and food safety.

Michael can help you to understand shopper attitudes to food- and retail-related issues, including online shopping, convenience, ethical consumerism, health and promotions, in order to help you develop successful and sustainable business strategies.

You can call upon his wide ranging experience in both qualitative and quantitative shopper research for bespoke briefings or to add an essential shopper angle to your industry event.

Some of Michael’s recent project experiences include advertising concept testing research that was instrumental in redesigning the campaign for a national industry trade body. He has conducted qualitative and quantitative research exploring how online grocery shopping behaviour is changing, providing insight into the online grocery landscape, and shopper priorities ahead. The project uncovered the likes and dislikes of online grocery shoppers and identified the preferred merchandising strategies for online grocery shoppers, based on an understanding of triggers for impulse shopping online.

Michael has also worked with our Industry Nutrition Strategy Group to provide the industry with an insight into consumer understanding of portion size.

Michael was previously Senior Insight Manager at Which? conducting research to support campaigns for consumers to have access to safe, nutritious, good quality food at affordable prices. He also worked at world leading market research agencies gfk and Research International.
