Alliance Boots transformed
its UK supply chain, delivering a 20% reduction
in operational costs, enabled by centralisation
and automation. The key features of the
transformation were the redevelopment of two
existing distribution centres in Nottingham,
exiting 18 regional depots and a step change in
the service provided to stores.
Craig Farina, Director of
Logistics at Boots UK said, "Alliance Boots
was delighted to be chosen as the 2010 winner of
the prestigious Ian MacLaurin Award for Supply
Chain Excellence. We were aware of the stiff
competition in this field from industry-leading
supply chain exponents, so to be recognised in
this way is very satisfying. The awards evening
was a fantastic event; professionally managed
and which our whole team thoroughly enjoyed - it
was a night where we were able to truly
celebrate our achievement.
This award helps lift
the profile of our function, not only within the
company but also externally. It helps us in
areas like recruitment and in our partnerships
with service providers and vendors who wish to
work with an award winning supply chain team."
