As IGD celebrates its centenary year we are reminded of the many challenges previously faced and surmounted by the food industry. Our sector thrives on difficult challenges and we delight in recognising its successes through the annual Food Industry Awards.
In a turbulent year, it is even more important to commend those providing leadership – companies and individuals demonstrating our industry’s endless capacity to improve, innovate and renew.
These are truly extraordinary times. We’ve seen the banking system implode, interest rates fall to record lows and huge swings in material prices. In just twelve months we went from growth to downturn to recession. However, there is also a positive side. Every upheaval presents a chance to shape a new future – which is exactly what the Food Industry Awards is about, an opportunity to celebrate those that have taken the initiative to seize opportunities that always arise at times like this.
