13.45 & 14.30

D S Smith Packaging logoUsing packaging to fully exploit available sales space

Packaging can be used as a crucial tool for improving availability, range and promotional success. Whether products are supplied in transit cases, retail ready packaging for the shelf, merchandising units or free standing displays, matching packaging to the needs of the supply chain and the consumer increases sales, reduces costs and generates more profit. DS Smith Packaging will host this session focusing on the tools and techniques that will help you achieve these important objectives.

13.45 & 14.30

SAS logoFundamental Issues when performing business forecasting and how to overcome them

Forecasting is a difficult and thankless endeavour. When accuracy is not quite where everyone wants it to be, we react by making significant new investments in technology, process and people. Unfortunately, investment in the forecasting function is no guarantee of better forecasts. There are often fundamental issues that affect an organization’s ability to forecast accurately. Until those issues are recognized and addressed, further investment in the function may be wasted.

This presentation identifies several fundamental issues that should be of concern to organizations creating a new forecasting function and to those struggling to improve the one they already have.

13.45 & 14.30

IRI logoMaximise your demand and supply data to improve availability

With manufacturers and retailers all striving to reduce out of stocks, one of the key challenges they face is how to unlock the real value from the vast array of data sources they have access to.

This session will examine how best to leverage latest technologies - and combine them with IRI’s expertise - to bring together large volume and complex data sets (such as daily EPOS, supply chain and internal data) to transform the way that companies focus on out of stock and inventory management issues and, at the same time, enable them to prioritise key actions for their business. IRI has implemented this approach for several clients and it has resulted in a 2% - 3% reduction in out of stocks which has provided significant value in these tough economic conditions.
