On The Case

Unfortunately this event is no longer taking place.
See the full list of upcoming IGD conferences & events for the grocery industry here.

Your products or the products in your packaging are going off-sale because they are in disguise. Products that are difficult to identify from information on their case don’t make it to the shelf; they languish in the backroom and increase wastage.

"I’m not sure what’s in those cases so I’m going to leave them for now and get on with putting these other cases out on-shelf instead" Store Colleague.

Faced with a difficult to ID case, store colleagues frequently cut their losses and move on to the easier to ID products of some of your competitors.

At this hands-on seminar Asda, Mars, Tesco, Unilever, Sainsbury’s, Kimberly-Clark, SC Johnson and Heinz will share the great results they have achieved using improved labelling, naming and symbols.

The seminar will provide you with a comprehensive business case and clear guidance on the small changes needed to achieve major improvements that go straight to the bottom line.

Matching the outer with the shelf edge

Through join collaboration, ASDA and Mars have identified Easy ID opportunities within the Pet Care category. Once your product has got to the right commodity area of the shop floor, the challenge is far from over! If your product is out of stock on the shelf, you are now relying on the shelf filler's skill at matching your outer case ID to the description on the shelf edge label. Taking the feedback direct from retail store visits with ASDA's Operations team, Mars have re-designed pilot product outer case to recover out of stock and maximise sales.
