By working together, food and grocery companies have made the supply chain more efficient, response and professional.

Sharing best practice through IGD, a few companies in the food and grocery industry have managed to take 204,000,000 HGV miles off UK roads. They've done this by being more efficient, working on their own distribution network, and also by sharing lorries to reduce the amount of 'empty running' in the chain - so some lorries are picking up goods from other companies on their way back from dropping off their original load.

Our commitment to the food and grocery industry means taking an active role in the development of best practice standards for the whole supply chain. In this section you’ll find some examples.
