In recent years sustainability has been front of mind for business leaders as organisations seek to improve their environmental credentials.

As financial pressures mount, what role is there for sustainability? How do businesses manage the need for reduced costs and greater efficiency whilst at the same time managing their impact on the environment?

IGD’s Sustainable Distribution 2009 conference will demonstrate that sustainability is now more important than ever and that reducing costs and improving environmental performance can go hand in hand.  Speakers include Tesco, Asda, Stobart Group and the Department for Transport.

In this ‘blue skies’ presentation Alan will explore; the implications of this for logistics, the extent to which improvements in technology can help, the behaviour changes required, likely policy measures needed to induce changes and finally, pose the question to what extent will the climate change already ‘in the pipeline’ frustrate our efforts to adapt logistics to a low carbon future.
